2. Inter-collegiate Simulations

Yes. Inter-collegiate simulations are available. Pricing for inter-collegiate simulations is as follows:

Two colleges participating in the one simulation = 50% premium over the standard simulation licence fee.
Three colleges participating in the one simulation = 100% premium over the standard simulation licence fee.

Important notes to consider:

1. Only one administrator control panel (known as the AIRLINE Online Manager or AOM) is available for inter-collegiate simulations. This means that all participants will be following the same simulation schedule, and that one overall administrator will need to be selected to run the simulation. This will require additional planning and allow less control to individual schools.

2. A maximum combined student number of 100 log in accounts is permitted under this offer.

3. Are the simulations suitable for distance education?

Yes. AIRLINE Online is ideally suited to distance education programs.

As there is no software to install or individual licences to buy and the simulation runs online, over the internet, both these simulations are ideally suited to distance education programs. Whether you have 1 or 100 students participating in the simulation, classroom based or spread throughout the world, all that your students require is that you provide thema username and password to your simulation and they will instantly have access.

You are able to view each individual airline's results, compare them against each other, communicate between all airlines or individual airlines, all from within your own administrator control panel. Each individual airline can also engage with other airlines and the administrator as though they were sitting across the table from each other.

Upon request, we can also assist with Inter-collegiate simulations.

4. How do I obtain technical support?

Full technical support is included with all simulations.

Corporate Licence Agreement: All corporate packages include 24 hours a day / 7 days a week phone support where simulation operating times are provided to us in advance. A dedicated support contact point will be provided.

Educational Licence Agreement: We generally only offer business hours email support and will respond within 12 hours depending on time zones.

Support to students / participants:

We do not normally provide direct support to students. In such cases we recommend to teachers that they encourage student enquiries to be directed back to the environment administrator. We will assist the administrator directly who can then relay the information back to all participants. This process ensures that the environment administrator is aware of student issues at all times.

8. What skill level is the simulation aimed at?

AIRLINE Online has been designed with a broad range of age and skill levels in mind.

During your initial consultation we are able to determine the level of complexity most suited to your requirements.

In addition, as you work your way through the AIRLINE Online Manager you are able to select from a series of templates which alter the skill and complexity of the simulation based on consultation with experienced academics. For Corporate training applications we typically include a custom designed scenario matched in with your training schedule and aims. This is included in the simulation licence fee.

10. What is the AIRLINE Online Manager (AOM)?

The AIRLINE Online Manager (AOM) is a separate, web based, control panel which is provided to each environment administrator (teacher). From within the AOM, an environment administrator is able to fully customise each setting within their simulation. As an example, some of the items you are able to set include:

  • Fuel prices
  • Aircraft types available in the simulation
  • Airports available in the simulation
  • Tax rates
  • Simulation start and end dates (turn the simulation OFF/ON)
  • Create and delete individual participant (student) log in accounts
  • Historical airfares
  • Stock market
  • Funding for airlines

The AOM also provides an administrator with a detailed summary of individual airline reports which allows the administrator to assess or rank each participant based on any number of criteria. These include:

  • Capitalisation
  • Profit / Loss
  • Revenue
  • Fleet number
  • Assets/Liabilities

As administrator, you have exclusive access to your own AOM and Simulate staff are always available to help decide on how best to set up environmental variables. Scenarios and templates are also available to get you started with minimal customisation.

11. How do I access the simulation?

AIRLINE Online is a completely web based simulation. There is no software to download or install which means there are essentially no I.T. installation and support requirements from a customer perspective.

The software runs on our company servers and is accessed via any computer connected to the internet via a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla).

Upon purchase of the simulation, you will be provided with two URL's. One URL is for the AIRLINE Online Manager (where environment administrators log in and set up their environment variables etc), and a second URL which is the URL you provide your students to log into and forms the main environment where the business decisions are carried out.
